Welcome to my website. I am a photo-journalist / communications specialist who is available to assist you with a wide range of communications work, from freelance journalism, corporate communications through to publicity and promotion for your business or event.
I love covering equestrian events and assisting riders develop their own brands, content and social media presence.
All communications work can be supported with photography. At the moment this website is dominated by my photos, which are available for sale but watch this space as I develop the website and stories further. I'm great at helping other people do this but not so great at doing it myself - and not much good at being at the other end of a camera either so even finding a photo for this page was a challenge!
So here goes; my background.
I rode horses before I could walk, having the privilege of growing up on a farm in Northland with parents who actively encouraged my passion for equestrian activities. My riding adventures included pony club (including being in the NZ Pony Club Inter Pacific team), competing in eventing and show jumping, involvement in the racing industry, and even being a groom on the international circuit both in show jumping and eventing!
I put my equestrian passion on hold to progress my tertiary qualifications and business career, having positions in both Human Resource, Communications and General Management in various organisations in New Zealand and the UK. I've got an honours degree in Business Psychology and post graduate qualifications in Communications and Media.
My adventures so far have taken me to many places, but for the last decade I have been calling North Canterbury my home. My work is a beautiful mixture of corporate and equestrian contracts, that I somehow over the last ten or so years have managed to juggle into some sort of order. I've worked in earthquake recovery providing communications support, I've helped Harris Meats with their marketing and publicity for years until recently, I've managed Cheviot NZ's social media campaign after the Kaikoura earthquakes, I've been writing and photographing for the NZ Horse & Pony Magazine for a long time including being the magazine's Digital Editor until March 2018. I've even been to two Olympic Games as an accredited journalist and am heading to my second World Equestrian Games in 2018.
2018 sees me focusing on the freelance juggling act that I love, combining this with some international travel and plenty of equestrian events. So if you have a need for some help with your publicity, your marketing, or your organisation's communications, your social media or perhaps you just want an article written or some photos taken, then please do give me a call, or flick me an email, or message me.
You can find me on Instagram and Twitter as CheviotJane, I'm on Facebook, LinkedIn too. Perhaps you may even want to just pick up the phone or have a chat at the next event. However you like to communicate, I don't mind, I'm just looking forward to hearing from you.
